Project Drive-In: Help Honda Save an American Icon

Time is running out for the drive-in. That is, unless somebody takes a stand. And that's exactly what Honda is attempting to do.

In less than 3 months, the majority of American drive-in theaters will face closure with the movie industry’s switch from film to digital. Upgrading to digital projection costs roughly $80,000.

Honda wants to preserve this iconic part of American car culture.

Another reason that drive-in theaters are in decline is because of property value. A good sized chunk of land within city limits will generate more revenue being sold as residential or commercial property than being used as a drive-in theater.

Honda has a plan. First, it is raising community awareness. The idea is that people will be more likely to visit the drive-in if they understand that they may not have the choice within a few years.

Second, Honda is donating at least five digital projectors to drive-in theaters around the country. And you have the chance to vote for your local drive-in to receive one.

Let's work together to preserve this nostalgic piece of automotive history!
