2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas has been named 2012 Green Car of the Year at 2011 Los Angeles Motor Show. It won this award on Thursday and is considered as one of the cleanest running internal combustion cars endorsed by United States Environmental Agency with fuel economy of 48 miles per gallon in highway driving. Mr. Ron Cogan, Publisher and Editor at Green Car Journal said that there aren’t many vehicles like Civic Natural Gas in the market. As per Green Car Journal, the Natural Gas is the clean fuel, which is nearly wholly nationally sourced and is usually priced 30 percent less as compared to gasoline. The
2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas is now in its 5th generation and is available for the price of $26,155 and will be available at 200 Honda dealers in 36 states. The six-judge panel on
Green Car of the Year jury selected Civic Natural Gas from the field of five contenders such as Volkswagen Passat TDI, Ford Focus Electric, Toyota Prius V and Mitsubishi I. Jury members include Jean Michael Cousteau, president of Ocean Features Society; Carl Pope, Chairman of Sierra Club; and Frances Beinecke, president of Natural Resources Defense Council.
Mr. Ron Cogan said that 2011’s Green Car of the Year contenders underscore that, there is no singles solution to transportation challenges. Virtually, all automobile manufacturing companies are exploring in green technology in different forms.
